KEY POINTS

  • To clean, wipe with warm water and mild detergent without submerging the board. Rinse and towel dry. Allow the board to dry for a few hours on its side or on a stand to ensure it has thoroughly dried.
  • Never place your board in the dishwasher, microwave, oven, refrigerator, or freezer.
  • Don’t submerge the board in water or allow liquids of any type to sit on the board for long periods of time.
  • Refinish the board anytime the board is starting to look or feel dry.

  • Hot water and stronger soaps will degrade your finish faster
  • For sterilization we still only recommend soap and water

MAINTAIN

  • Refinish the board anytime the board is starting to look and/or feel dry; after the cleaning process:
  • Allow the board to air dry thoroughly until there’s no moisture
  • Inspect the board to insure there are no contaminants, dust, etc.
  • Apply food-safe oil/wax finish
  • Wait 3-5 minutes
  • Repeat, if desired/needed
  • Wipe away excess finish w/ a clean dry towel

AND DO NOT...

  • Liquids will soak into the wood, causing the cutting board to warp, expand, and/or crack. The wood can soften, and this also affects the strength of the glued joints
